MaxClarity is advertised as the world’s only anti-acne foam. It’s applied like a lotion twice daily. MaxClarity states that about 65% of users see dramatic improvement of acne within one or two weeks and complete relief within two to three months. Unlike some other products we’ve reviewed, this product gets all its power from not-so-natural ingredients. It’s produced by Glaxo Smith Kline and is sold through the mail.

Ingredients in MaxClarity

MaxClarity’s active ingredients are benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. The company claims that because the ingredients are “micronized” they’re absorbed especially well. However, customers find that the foam is only as effective as face washes, lotions and other products containing the same active ingredients.

Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are very effective for many people fighting acne. Other people need more complete systems. For example, ClearPores and Exposed Skin Care are alternatives that include salicylic acid but also provide herbal capsules and herbal tea, respectively. The herbs work to improve digestion, circulation, hormone balance and other internal issues related to skin health.

Concerns about the MaxClarity Reputation

MaxClarity has an embarrassing “F” with the Better Business Bureau. Although the product is effective, consumers report that customer service is extremely poor. A main concern is that after signing up for a 60-day trial they’re unable to stop future shipments. Customers have been charged almost $30/month and have had trouble getting refunds for unused or unordered products.

Some other complaints about MaxClarity include:

1) products have faulty caps and won’t dispense,

2) an additional cleanser is needed to remove all traces of makeup.

3) it is too drying for people who don’t have very oily skin. People who have dry, normal or combination skin will need to buy a separate moisturizer.

Overall Review of MaxClarity

The MaxClarity acne treatment delivers two ingredients that are proven to combat acne and prevent future breakouts. Still, besides being a foam, it doesn’t offer any special properties that distinguish it from other competitors available over the counter. We advise customers to try other products instead to avoid the hassle of poor customer service. One customer review sums it up well: “If they sold this product in stores I would totally purchase it again but I would not trust this company with automatic payments ever again.”

Note that if you do choose MaxClarity, it’s important to use a moisturizer with sunscreen. The active ingredients make skin especially susceptible to sun damage.
